the four silences

When the poem stops its breath for
lack of want   it will
shut out the four corners of earth &
        wander,
        restrained –

When the poem tears its luck out of
lack of want   it will
dance to the tune of the four
        silences,
        restrained –

Long-time Russian truism that suffering breeds the best poetry. I suppose any excuse to be unhappy there. Even so, seems true. Like gizzards working on seeds or depths revealing light more precisely. I argue with myself on this though. Not sure even though Russian poetry provides a wealth of fine examples. Thanks for the poem.
