Faiz II: recalled/annulled

“Phir koi aaya dil-e-zaar, nahin koi nahin… ab yahaan koi nahin koi nahin aaye ga” Tanhai (Isolation)

I, Naught.
I attempt to silence the naught by asserting the spectre
of a weary journeyman lost on a road misty with apprehension.

The door opens up
and closes.

Drink up, shut your eyes: no one is coming, fool.

Gawd. This is so bleak. *shivers* 😐

The door opens and closes is very vivid imagery.. which is not in the original is it? Picks up the essence exactly. One can’t translate, once can interpret and beam images..you’ve done that well. It inspired me to write a haiku chain, but I doubt it will ever see daylight 🙂

Thanks. I took some liberty with “apne be-Khwaab kuwaaRoN to maqfal kar lo” (second last line) for the door image. Just picked up Faiz again yesterday, so it is timely this conversation. It would be interesting to see him rendered as haiku: daylight is a matter of time 🙂
